Text catering inquiriesOur point of view
Inspired by family. Shared with Bakersfield.
Jade Social’s Vietnamese inspiration starts with the owner’s mother, who is Vietnamese and helped bring her cuisine to the table. That family connection is at the heart of what we want to share.
Vietnamese cooking is wonderfully varied: flavors and traditions change across regions and families. Fresh herbs, fragrant broths, savory sauces, and contrasting textures offer plenty to discover—whether it’s your first bowl of phở or a familiar favorite.
Our preview brings Vietnamese favorites together with contemporary share plates and cocktails. The opening menu is still taking shape, and we look forward to welcoming you.
A little introduction
New to phở or curious about Vietnamese coffee? Start here. These answers describe the dishes and our preview menu—not a final recipe or ingredient list.
Cà phê sữa đá combines strong coffee, sweetened condensed milk, and ice. A traditional preparation uses a small metal filter called a phin: hot water passes slowly through ground coffee into the cup, then the coffee and milk are stirred together and poured over ice. It’s bold, creamy, and sweet—not iced tea or soda. Our final brewing method and customization options will be confirmed before opening.
Phở is a Vietnamese rice-noodle soup. The beef version pairs an aromatic broth with flat rice noodles and beef, often finished with onion and herbs. Broth is traditionally simmered with bones, aromatics, and spices; recipes and garnishes vary. Try a spoonful of broth first, then add available lime, herbs, or chili to your taste.
Bánh mì is a Vietnamese sandwich served in a crisp baguette. Fillings vary, often balancing savory meat with pickled vegetables, cucumber, and herbs. Our preview features lemongrass chicken—a bright, satisfying handheld lunch.
Lemongrass brings a fragrant, citrus-like aroma rather than the sourness of lemon juice. Our preview pairs marinated chicken with jasmine rice, vegetables, and herbs in a rice bowl. You’ll also find lemongrass chicken in the bánh mì and bao.
No. Fresh rolls, often called gỏi cuốn, use softened rice paper around ingredients such as rice noodles, herbs, vegetables, and sometimes shrimp or pork. They have a soft, pleasantly chewy wrapper and are served with a dipping sauce. The final filling and sauce for Jade Social will be confirmed with the opening menu.
Vietnamese egg rolls are fried, with a crisp wrapper around a savory filling. They’re often called chả giò in southern Vietnam or nem rán in the north. Wrappers and fillings vary. Our preview serves them with lettuce, herbs, and a dipping sauce, in contrast to the soft rice-paper wrapper of a fresh roll.
They’re small parcels of seasoned chicken inside a thin wrapper, fried until golden and crisp. Our preview pairs them with sweet chili sauce. This is one of our contemporary share plates rather than a claim that every dish on the menu is a traditional Vietnamese specialty.
The name refers to the tossing or “shaking” motion used as bite-size pieces of beef cook quickly in a hot pan or wok. Our preview focuses on seared beef, savory seasoning, vegetables, and herbs.
Our preview is a crispy chicken-wing dish finished with a sweet chili glaze, scallions, peppers, and sesame. Expect a sweet-and-savory bite with some heat. The opening menu will confirm the seasoning and spice level.
Think savory noodles tossed with plenty of garlic. Jade Social’s preview finishes them with herbs, scallions, and toasted peanuts. Noodle types and sauces can vary, so please ask about the final ingredients rather than assuming they’re rice noodles or gluten-free.
Bánh khọt are small savory Vietnamese pancakes, often made with a rice-flour batter and topped with shrimp. Our preview uses a coconut-flavored batter, a tender center, and lightly crisp golden edges, served with herbs and dipping sauce. They’re pancakes—not steamed buns.
These are soft steamed buns filled with lemongrass chicken, crunchy vegetables, and herbs. They offer a fluffy alternative to a crisp bánh mì baguette and are part of our contemporary preview menu.
It pairs a savory Vietnamese sandwich with creamy cà phê sữa đá: crisp bread, fresh vegetables, and a chilled coffee. It’s our grab-and-go lunch idea; final combinations, packaging, and prices will be announced before opening.
Our preview includes Jade Lotus with cucumber and citrus, Saigon Sunset with orange, warm spice, and a sparkling finish, and a Vietnamese Espresso Martini with a bold coffee character. These are cocktail concepts; final spirits, recipes, and alcohol-free options are still to be confirmed.
No—flavors vary widely by dish, region, and cook. Many dishes emphasize fragrant herbs, savory broth, or a balance of sweet and tangy flavors rather than intense heat. Chili may be part of a recipe or offered alongside it. Ask us about a specific dish before ordering.
Please ask about the final recipe before ordering. Sauces, broths, wrappers, and toppings can contain ingredients that aren’t obvious from a photo or dish name. We haven’t finalized allergen information, substitutions, or cross-contact procedures, so this preview cannot promise that any item meets a particular dietary need.
The owner’s Vietnamese mother helped bring her cuisine to the table. Jade Social draws on that family connection while making room for a modern, welcoming kitchen-and-bar experience. It’s an invitation to discover Vietnamese flavors together—not one single version of a diverse food culture.
